1. Introduction

LinguaBlocks ("we", "us", or "our") operates https://linguablocks.net. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long we retain it, and how users may request deletion.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account or sign in using an email address or an external sign-in provider, we collect:

• Your name
• Your email address
• A unique account identifier

This information is used for account creation, secure access, service communications and support.

Uploaded Files and Processed Data

Subtitle files and other supported learning content uploaded to LinguaBlocks are processed to generate translations, definitions, examples and other enriched learning material.

• Uploaded and processed files are stored while needed to provide the service.
• These files are normally scheduled for deletion after three (3) months.
• Limited security, billing, backup or troubleshooting records may remain longer where necessary. Technical failures may also delay deletion until the issue is identified and resolved.
• Flashcards you choose to save keep a copy of the specific word or phrase and its surrounding line after the source file is deleted. See Flashcards and Learning Data below.

Automated Language Processing

Uploaded content may be processed by automated language-analysis and artificial-intelligence services. These services receive the content and related language settings needed to generate learning material. To avoid repeating the same processing, generated learning material may be reused for the same content and language combination while it remains available. A user's account identity is handled separately from that reusable material.

Flashcards and Learning Data

If you save a word or phrase as a flashcard, we store that card and your review history for it. A card contains the word or phrase, its definition and translation, example sentences, and the line of subtitle or reading text you met it in, together with the name of the file it came from.

• Flashcards are stored in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) so that review works offline, and are synchronized to our servers so they are available on your other devices.
• Signing out attempts to synchronize your changes and then to remove the local copy from that browser. If either step cannot finish — for example another LinguaBlocks tab is still open, or changes have not yet reached our servers — we keep the local data rather than risk losing it, and tell you that cleanup did not finish. Removing it may then require signing in and out again on that device, or clearing the site's data in your browser.
• Flashcards are not covered by the three-month file deletion above, and they have no automatic expiry.
• Deleting a card removes it from your deck on all your devices. Because your flashcard history is stored as a record of changes that we do not rewrite, the earlier copy of that card remains in our storage until the data is erased. Erasure is what a deletion request does — see Account and Data Deletion below.

Usage Data

We store usage-related information such as:

• Processing timestamps
• File size or token usage metrics
• Account activity records
• Technical records used to diagnose errors, prevent abuse and keep the service reliable

This data is used for service functionality, monitoring, billing, and system improvement.

Browser Storage

We use cookies and similar browser storage for secure sign-in, essential preferences and offline learning features. Flashcard storage is described above.

Payment Information

Payments are processed through Stripe. We do not store full payment card details on our servers. Stripe may retain payment information in accordance with its own privacy policies.

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

• Process uploaded content and generate learning material
• Provide and improve language-learning services
• Authenticate users
• Process payments
• Send service-related communications
• Maintain system security and reliability

We do not sell personal data.

4. Data Retention

• Uploaded and processed files are normally scheduled for deletion after three (3) months. Limited security, billing, backup or troubleshooting records may remain longer where necessary, and technical failures may delay deletion until resolved.
• Reusable generated learning material may remain available while it continues to serve the same content and language combination.
• Saved flashcards and their review history have no automatic expiry and are not removed by the three-month file deletion above. Deleting a card removes it from your deck; the stored history is erased when you request erasure.
• Account information is retained while the account is active.
• Inactive accounts may be reviewed after one (1) year of inactivity and may be deleted during periodic account reviews.
• Users may request earlier deletion at any time.

5. Account and Data Deletion

Users may request deletion of their account and associated data by contacting:

We will process verified deletion requests within one (1) month.

A deletion request covers your account information, any uploaded or processed files still held, and your saved flashcards and review history, including the copies stored on our servers. Flashcard erasure is currently carried out manually by us on request rather than automatically, which is why we ask you to contact the address above.

We may retain limited billing, fraud-prevention, security or legal records where necessary. We will keep only what is needed for those purposes and will explain any relevant exception when responding to a deletion request.

6. Data Security

User data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration.

7. Third-Party Services

LinguaBlocks uses trusted service providers for hosting and storage, automated language and artificial-intelligence processing, account authentication, email delivery and payments. The information shared depends on the service being provided.

These providers process information under their own service and privacy terms and may process it in countries other than the country where you live. We do not sell personal information.

YouTube Videos

Our video library plays videos with YouTube's embedded player, which is part of the YouTube API Services. When you watch one of these videos, YouTube (a Google service) receives information from your device, such as your IP address and browser details, and may set cookies or similar technologies, under its own terms. LinguaBlocks does not receive or store this information. By watching YouTube videos on LinguaBlocks, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's Privacy Policy explains how Google handles this information.

8. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
